JOB DETAILS:

Officers are the leaders of the Army. They lead Soldiers during every aspect of a mission. Officers make decisions quickly, always focusing on completing the mission successfully, and showing respect for their subordinates. Officers lead from the front and adjust to environments that are always changing. To be an Officer is to be respected as a Soldier, an inspiring leader and a servant of the nation.

In addition to exhibiting self-discipline, initiative, confidence and intelligence, Officers are physically fit and can perform under physical and mental pressures. They are judged by their ability to make decisions on their own and bear ultimate moral responsibility for those decisions.
 
Army Officers are trained in career fields ranging from communication and personnel management to finance and logistics. Their training encourages the development of leadership and problem-solving skills that make them sought after by civilian employers.
 
Being a leader in the Army requires certain qualities. A leader exhibits self-discipline, initiative, confidence and intelligence. They are physically fit and can perform under physical and mental pressures. Leaders make decisions quickly, always focusing on completing the mission successfully, and show respect for their subordinates and other military officers. Leaders lead from the front and adjust to environments that are always changing. They are judged by their ability to make decisions on their own and bear ultimate moral responsibility for those decisions.
Officers stay within their specialty and their career track is more focused within that field, rather than moving upward toward increased levels of command and responsibility.

Responsibilities of an Army Captain may include:

-Commanding and controlling operations and/or combined armed companies on the battalion, brigade and division levels.
-Develop doctrine, organizations and equipment for a variety of missions.
-Provide instruction on vehicles, networks and systems at service schools and/or combat training centers.
-Serve as a technical advisor to other units, including Army Reserve components.
