Air Traffic Control Equipment Repairer


Electronic instruments are used in all areas of the Army, including health care, weather forecasting, flight control and combat. The Air Traffic Control Equipment Repairer is an important member of the Army electronic maintenance team. Electronic instrument repairers fix and maintain electronics, such as measuring equipment, navigational controls and photographic equipment.

The Air Traffic Control (ATC) Equipment Repairer performs or supervises field and sustainment level maintenance and installation of air traffic control communications, navigation aids (NAVAIDS), and landing systems. Some of your duties as an Air Traffic Control Equipment Repairer may include:



  • Test instruments, navigational controls and simulators using electronic and electrical test equipment

  • Read technical diagrams and manuals in order to locate, isolate and repair instrument parts

  • Replace equipment parts such as resistors, switches and circuit boards

  • Perform quality control measures

  • Install and adjust air traffic control communications and navigation aids systems

  • Maintain air traffic control systems

  • Maintain technical manuals and instructional materials for the repair of air traffic control communication systems
